Potentiality - overview training and software familiarisation¶

Your Potentiality software is both powerful and complex, capable of doing things that no other software on the market can do. Much of the user interface is simple and intuitive, however many aspects require practice and training to help you to get the most out of the system. Its important to remember that you are never on your own. We are always here to help.

Its best to adopt a “slow and steady” approach to learning how to use the software. We recommend that you don’t try to learn everything at once. Its impossible to learn it all in one day. We’ve learned from experience that running a 4 or 6 hour training session is almost useless as the human mind can only take in a certain amount of information in one sitting. Its best to get an overview of the system first and then supplement that background with personalised sessions for individual requirements as and when they arise. For example, there is no point spending an hour at this stage, learning how to set up complicated event ticketing with multiple price tiers. The better approach is to wait until you have such an event to set up, and then we can line up a webinar session to walk you through how to do it and explain it all in context.That way, the information will be practically applied and the knowledge will stick with you. We do this regularly with all of our schools.

Be realistic about your use of the many features at your disposal. You don’t need to use every feature from day one. Aim for a steady controlled roll-out of the site's features so that you can stay in control of the progress.

*Online Training Program *

Potentiality’s training program utilises a combination of training videos, online feature showcase webinars, and a comprehensive online Wiki to help bring you up to speed on all aspects of the Potentiality system. We supplement these online resources with personal online screenshare training sessions. Prior to arranging personal training sessions, its best if you first:

1. Watch the comprehensive Potentiality “walk through” video. This takes you through all the facets of the Potentiality software, giving you a fantastic overview of what’s possible and will help you to decide on which areas you wish to focus.
2. Watch the essential Administrator Training videos found here. We strongly recommend that when watching through the video you login to your Potentiality site and stop and pause the training video to allow yourself to follow along and practice doing all the various tasks on your own site. You will learn much more quickly by doing, than by only watching the video. You’ll notice that the video is indexed on the left hand side of the viewing window, so you can easily go back and review sections if you forget how to perform a specific task on your site.

When watching the walkthrough video and working through the training videos, you will likely have many questions for us! We recommend that you keep a bullet point list of questions and clarifications that you may require and we can then work through these questions with you in a personal training webinar.
